Microsoft Sri Lanka Showcases the Future of Technology for the Medical Industry

Microsoft Sri Lanka is scheduled to participate in the 24th Triennial Commonwealth Medical Association Conference co-hosted by the Sri Lankan Medical Association (SLMA), Ministry of Health, HISSL and National Science Foundation (NSF) at Cinnamon Grand from 14 – 16 October 2016. Organized under the theme ‘Digital Health for Health and Wellbeing’, the conference will feature a panel of several speakers who will present on a variety of topics pertaining to the current reality as well as the future of healthcare in the region.

Microsoft is developing digital solutions that are helping to engage patients by enabling access to reliable healthcare information, empowering care teams with fast easy ways to communicate with each other and patients, optimizing clinical and operational effectiveness with health analytics which enable health professionals to generate actionable insights from rapidly growing data and transforming the care continuum by allowing health organizations to utilize the cloud to house patient records amongst others.

At the Commonwealth Medical Conference, Microsoft will showcase its vision for the future of healthcare. The showcase will include cutting edge technology such as the Microsoft HoloLens, which mixes reality with 3D holographic content giving reality to the virtual world. The Microsoft team will also demonstrate how specific tech devices can be utilized to support innovative digital healthcare solutions that allow remote medical care in real time.

“The healthcare sector is being greatly influenced by the digital transformation that is taking place on a global scale. Sri Lanka too is seeing the benefits of adopting technology into the healthcare sector with applications such as eHealth, mHealth and electronic channeling already being used by hospitals and the public alike. This conference gives our medical professionals and healthcare providers the opportunity to learn about the new ways in which digital technology can uplift the sector,” said Hon. Dr. Rajitha Senaratne, Minister of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine.

The 24th Triennial Commonwealth Medical Association Conference will look at the healthcare industry from a viewpoint of healthcare providers in a wide variety of disciplines. The focus will be on the digital health eco system and present digital solutions.

Secretary General of the Commonwealth of Nations, Baroness Patricia Scotland and Commonwealth Foundation Chairman and former Governor-General of New Zealand, Sir Anand Satyan will address the conference which is expected to attract many healthcare professionals from Sri Lanka and Asia Pacific countries.
