Sri Lanka expects to host the World Economic Summit by next year, said State Minister for International Trade, Sujeewa Senasinghe while speaking to the media on the Trading Floor of the Colombo Stock Exchange this morning (13 October).
While speaking further, Senasinghe added, “We have gained an opportunity to hold the World Export Development Forum in Sri Lanka. Some 400 to 600 exporters are attending this forum. Meanwhile, as an organization affiliated to the United Nations, it attracts more attention towards Sri Lanka.
“We expect to develop the economy through exports in the near future. We expect huge investments from the private sector. Gaining the opportunity to host the forum without any burdens to the government is politically a good omen. By next year, we hope to attract the hosting of the World Export Development Forum too to Sri Lanka,” he said.
