The Central Bank of Sri Lanka has revealed that 1,253,876 credit cards have been active in Sri Lanka by end August 2016. This is an increase of 27,056 when compared against the previous month’s record of 1,226,826.
While the number of domestic dealing credit cards had dropped from 36,177 to 35,880 those used to make international payments had indicated a growth from 1,190,643 to 1,217,996.
Meanwhile, by end August 2016, the total value due from all these credit cards has been recorded as Rs. 67,664 million.
