A latest report from the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority indicates that 2,050,832 foreign tourists have arrived in Sri Lanka during 2016.
This is a growth of 14 per cent when compared against the 1,798,380 tourist arrivals during 2015. Meanwhile, 224,791 tourists have arrived in Sri Lanka during the month of December 2016, which is a growth of 9.1 per cent.
The most number of tourist arrivals to Sri Lanka during 2016 has been from neighbouring India, with 356,729 tourists having arrived during 2016, recording a growth of 12.8 per cent.
Meanwhile, 271,577 tourists have arrived in Sri Lanka from China, which is a growth of 26.4 per cent.
Furthermore, 188,159 tourists from the United Kingdom, 133,275 from Germany, 96,440 from France and 95,167 from the Maldives are the other countries from where the most number of tourists had arrived from.
