Records indicate that 219,360 tourist have arrived in Sri Lanka during January 2017. According to the latest data released by Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority, when compared against the 194,280 tourist arrivals during 2016, this is a growth of 12.9 per cent.
The 31,802 arrivals are Chinese and when compared with the same month of 2016 this is a growth of 21.9 per cent. Similarly, records indicate the most number of tourist arrivals during January as being 31,173 from India, 19,468 from the United Kingdom, 12,471 from Germany, 10,666 from France and 10,337 from Russia.
