Caterpillar, the world’s leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, diesel and natural gas engines, industrial turbines and diesel-electric locomotives has been recognized as one of the Top 50 global firms in Fortune’s World’s Most Admired Top 50 All-Stars list for 2017. Ranked 47 in 2017, Caterpillar has appeared in the Top 50 All-Stars list for the past 16 consecutive years.
To select the 50 All-Stars, Fortune partnered global management consulting firm, Korn Ferry Hay Group which asked 3,800 executives, directors, and securities analysts to select 10 companies they admired the most. The respondents were able to choose from a list of the companies that ranked in the top 25% in last year’s survey, in addition to those that finished in the top 20% of their industry.
Caterpillar was named in the Top 50 All-Stars list after the respondents selected the 10 companies they admired and respected the most around the world and across all industries. The companies were rated within their own industry on nine criteria, including innovation, social responsibility and global competitiveness. Fortune also ranked Caterpillar as the number one most admired company in the Construction and Farm Machinery sector. Caterpillar has appeared in Fortune’s industry rankings annually since 1998. Notably this is the third consecutive year that Caterpillar has been ranked number one for this sector.
Commenting on Caterpillar’s ranking in the Fortune Most Admired List, Prasan Fernando, Chairman, UTE said, “We are honoured to be a part of a Fortune company that has been repeatedly recognised among the world’s most admired entities.
