Sri Lanka’s largest marketplace, ikman.lk today announced that its jobs category has seen exponential growth in numbers of job seekers, just three months after it announced a complete revamp of its jobs category on the site.
Late last year ikman.lk completed a total overhaul of its job category and added new features to the site including the ability to upload CVs and commenced a massive drive to improve on the quality and profile of the jobs advertised. Post the company’s efforts, it now reports, the response from job seekers to vacancies posted on ikman.lk have increase ed by as much as five times, boasting an average of 2,000 vacancy ads posted per month with 50,000 job seekers responding to these ads per month. This clearly establishes ikman.lk as the leading online job vacancy portal.
In a bid to add greater authenticity to the vacancies posted and to eliminate spam advertisements in the job category, a very nominal fee is now charged when posting vacancies. This move has been widely hailed by the advertisers themselves as the credibility of the postings has now improved, leading to a better response to the ads. Dialog Axiata, Abans, Mas Active and Navaloka PLC are just a few of the many corporates, which now use ikman.lk regularly for their recruitment requirements.
Speaking about the direction in which the category is being driven, Ms. Erin Fernando – Category Assistant Manager, who heads the jobs section at ikman.lk said, “At present we are focusing on entry level to middle management vacancies as we see this as a high potential area with a lot of room for growth. As a whole, the number of job seekers looking for employment opportunities on online portals is rapidly increasing and we see this trend continuing into the foreseeable future. As such, we are working towards ensuring that we keep abreast with this trend while providing convenient and reliable job options for all Sri Lankans.”
