Bren Security (Pvt) Ltd, a member of the global security giant Securitas AB of Sweden, held it’s annual Sinhala & Tamil New Year Function and Awards ceremony in the presence of a distinguished gathering from the state, diplomatic and corporate communities on 28th April 2016.

The chief guest was Mr.N.G.Panditharatne, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Defence and Urban Development and Competent Authority for Civil Security affairs.

This is a traditional event held annually it being an integral part of Bren’s company culture.

The main aim of the event was to show appreciation and recognition to the security officers who are the front line and who are considered to be the most valuable asset of the company, without which it would not exist.

Welcoming the chief guest, Managing Director and Country President of Bren Security Major Tissa Aluwihare noted that “it is an opportunity to recognize the dedicated service, loyalty and commitment of our staff, some who have served us for many years and have contributed deeply to the success story of the company through their efforts which has helped us to garner 90% of the diplomatic segment as our clients.”

It was also an occasion to say “thank you” to loyal clients, most of whom have patronized Bren for well over 5 years and with whom the company has built strong bonds of mutual goodwill and trust.

Major Aluwihare also deeply appreciated the valuable support and guidance given by the Competent Authority to uplift the image of the industry by facilitating efforts to create a conducive work environment and benefits to the security officers and fostering a sense of dignity for the profession which would then command the respect of society.

Speaking further, he said “One discordant note which we would like to highlight which affects the industry as a whole and most notably the companies which are compliant are the unethical practices conducted by companies who do not pay the statutory dues, undercut on rates, etc”.

Major Aluwihare urged the Competent Authority to take measures to halt this disturbing trend which affects the image of the industry and causes a situation where there is no level playing field for compliant companies to transact their business.

This was followed by the distribution of long service and performance awards to the security officers and staff.
The final event for the day was the Raffle Draw for the security officers who worked tirelessly with much sacrifice during the New year holidays wherein valuable prizes including Televisions, Mountain Bicycles and other appliances were won by the lucky ones.
