~ Relief given to the people of Kolonnawa, Dematagoda, Meethotamulla and Wellampitiya areas, amidst the height of bad weather
Bharti Airtel, a leading global telecommunications company with operations in 20 countries across Asia and Africa, generously rose to address the current need of the nation by supporting those affected by the recent floods.
Having initially planned to celebrate one of the most decorated events in Sri Lanka at the ‘Vesak Kalapaya,’ Airtel was one of the first organizations to extend its support by donating essential items such as sleeping mats, bed sheets and water. Airtel also gave them free SIMs preloaded with talk time credit of up to Rs. 200/- for emergency calls to be made without any problem.
The flood relief programme, which was held on the 20th of this month at the height of bad weather, was championed by Airtel Lanka’s MD/CEO- Mr. Jinesh Hegde and other senior officials of Airtel Lanka namely; Mr. Narendra Vaidya Director – Chief Financial Officer, Mr. Parveen Kapoor – Chief Technical Officer, Mr. Romesh de Mel – Chief Services Officer, Mr. Dharshana Jayasuriya – Chief Information Officer and Charith de Chickera – Head of Brands and Marketing Communications. It was an initiative where most employees of Airtel volunteered to extend their support towards this worthy cause.
