With the objective of providing training on networking and creating a platform between the Cisco networking students and the industry, SLIIT hosted the Cisco Networking career guidance programme at its campus in Malabe recently. The programme was conducted by the Cisco Networking Academy and over 275 students, CISCO instructors and industry specialists participated in the interactive workshop.
Sharing a few words at the workshop, Uditha Gamage Cisco Legal Main Contact/Head ITSD of SLIIT noted, “Conducting a workshop and open house interviews of this manner, equips students to enter the demanding work environment. Students are given the opportunity to meet representatives from prestigious companies, network and study industry insights”. Topics such as skills profiling and branding yourself was discussed with much enthusiasm among participants.
The speakers at the event were Kalhari Kaluarachchi, Program Manager – Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Maldives and Bhutan. Social Innovation group APAC, Cisco Systems, Inc, Prof Koliya Pulasinghe, Dean Faculty of Computing of SLIIT, Ishara Wickramathilake, Senior Assistant Manager of Aitken Spence HR and Uditha Gamage Cisco Legal Main Contact/Head ITSD of SLIIT.
With constant advancement in knowledge and technology around the world, CISCO Networking Academy continuously updates its curriculum to meet demanding requirements. Whilst CISCO is at the forefront of updating the curriculum, the lectures are delivered by the respective centers. SLIIT conducts the following CISCO Networking Academy programmes at the Cisco networking academy located at the Metro Campus; CCNA Routing Switching- CCNP R&S ROUTE, CCNP-R&S SWITCH, CCNA Security Program and Cisco IT Essentials. In addition, SLIIT serves the networking community as both a Cisco Instructor Training Center and Cisco academy support center.
