NDB Bank, The 2nd Runner-Up of the ‘Best Corporate Citizen Sustainability Award 2015,’ organized by the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce says, corporate entities should look beyond economic prosperity in their business operations to help build a healthy environment for the future generations.
“NDB considers that it is the responsibility of corporate entities to take a holistic approach to business operations concentrating not only on economic prosperity but also environmental and social prosperity ensuring that we sustain a healthy environment for future generations,’ said Faizan Ozman, Group Chief Financial Officer of NDB.
The Bank says the victory at the last years ‘BCCS 2015’ is a recognition it received for NDB’s wider approach to sustainability which is supported by three pillars of strategic, philanthropic and operational initiatives.
“This award emphasizes the Bank’s significant feats in Sustainability and is a key outcome of how NDB has lived up to its brand promise. NDB continues its efforts to empower the citizens of the nation through multiple projects that place emphasis on issues that are critical for sustainable economic growth and the future success of the nation as a whole,’ said Omar.
He also says sustainability is a strategic priority at NDB and the Bank continuously endeavours to foster sustainability across all its business decisions and activities. “The Bank takes every measure to fulfil its vision of creating sustainable shared value by delivering social, environmental and economic benefits across the stakeholder spectrum,’ concluded Omar.
The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce is now calling applications to conduct the “Best Corporate Citizen Sustainability Award 2016”, an annual competition held for the 13th consecutive year. It aims to encourage the corporate sector to adopt best sustainability practices. The ‘BCCS 2016’ will present a galaxy of awards to recognize the best performers in corporate sustainability initiatives in Sri Lanka, ranging from the ‘Best Corporate Citizen Sustainability Award 2016’, Top ten corporates, Category awards, sector awards to top performers for key sectors of the economy and The Best Presented Application etc.
In addition to the main awards, the competition will also recognize exemplary projects carried out by companies relating to Planet and People such as Education, Community services etc. The awards giving ceremony will take place on the 24th November, 2016 in Colombo.
