The Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) Act will be amended aiming to protect consumers and to punish errant traders who fleece the consumers, CAA revealed.
According to the CAA, the final draft of the Bill has been sent to the Authority by the Legal Draftsman’s Department for further discussion.
Once this process is completed, it will be presented to Parliament for approval. Several legal provisions will be included to the Bill aimed at increasing fines and jail terms against errant traders to reflect the present day needs, CAA added.
